25/09/2019 – Cocktail Reception at the Cyprus University of Technology
On the first day of the conference and following registration at the conference venue, buses will pick you up from the conference venue, Grand Resort Hotel 5*, with direction to the city centre where the Cyprus University of Technology is located. There, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a Welcome Cocktail Reception in the gardens of one of the central buildings of the University, accompanied by live music from a Cypriot jazz band. After the reception you can either go back to the hotel with the available busses, or you can stroll through the city centre, the old port and the Limassol marina, which are great places to have dinner or drinks by the seaside, and get back to the hotel with the available public bus or taxi services.
26/09/2019 – Conference Dinner at the picturesque village of Lofou
Lofou is a village in the Limassol District of Cyprus, located approximately 25 km Northwest of Limassol and 40 km from the conference venue. It is built over the hills like an amphitheatre, at an altitude of about 800 meters. It relatively isolated because the road-path does not continue beyond the village. Lofou is considered one of the most beautiful and picturesque villages of Cyprus, with a very well preserved architecture. Here, you will get the chance to enjoy a traditional Cypriot open-air dinner in the old school yard, which is now used as the community office, followed by traditional music and dances.
28/09/2019 – Optional Excursion to Kourion Archaelogical Site & Omodos Village
Today you can discover the legends and history of one of the most beautiful areas in Cyprus. We begin our tour passing via Limassol’s coastline and we continue via the Fassouri citrus plantations.
Our first stop will be at the ancient city of Kourion, an impressive Greco Roman site, which includes mosaics and a superb amphitheater. From this beautiful, unspoiled spot perched high on a cliff, enjoy the dazzling view of the ruins and the sea below. Kourion is an important ancient city – Kingdom and one of the most spectacular archaeological sites on the island, where excavations still bring new treasures to light.
Then we drive through picturesque mountain villages to end to the village of Omodos, which is famous for its true Cypriot architecture, its wine press, known as “Linos” and the monastery of the Holy Cross. Standing by the stone paved square, the monastery is known for its collection of interesting ecclesiastical objects.
We finish the tour with lunch, at a traditional Cypriot Tavern at Omodos!
