We hope to see you all – plus new GCET friends – at GCET21 in Alberta!
Dear GCET friends,
It is a great honour and pleasure to invite you to Cyprus for the 20th Global Conference on Environmental Taxation.
GCET is the leading global forum for exchanges on the principles and practices of environmental taxation and other market-based instruments for greening the economy and promoting the transition to low-carbon and resource-efficient societies. Research presented at the previous nineteen conferences has helped provide a much stronger theoretical and empirical underpinning of the legal, economic and behavioural issues in this area. In line with the tradition of previous GCET conferences, a selection of the best contributions of GCET20 will be published in the prestigious book series “Critical Issues in Environmental Taxation” from Edward Elgar publishers.
The main theme for GCET20 is “Economic Policies for Low-Carbon Development”. Abstracts and papers can be submitted within a broad range of related topics.
The conference will be organized by the Cyprus University of Technology, located in Limassol, the major coastal town of Cyprus, and is held under the auspices of the Finance Minister of Cyprus Mr. Harris Georgiades.
The target audiences for GCET20 are individuals from all parts of the world who are interested in the exchange of ideas, information, and research findings about environmental taxation issues and sustainable economic development, including:
• Government officials from all levels of administration including provincial, state, and territorial levels, ministries and departments of finance, taxation, transport, urban design, energy, water, environment, natural resources, etc.
• Representatives from international and non-governmental organizations, tax and accounting professionals, private sector executives, and experts
• Academics from Universities and Institutions of Higher Education in the field of law, economics, taxation, accounting, public administration, environmental studies, etc.
We look forward to welcoming you to Cyprus!
